Originally from California and 12 years in Sedona. I have enjoyed cooking for my family since the ripe age of 12. One on the first things I learned to make was tortillas which was an essential to our daily meals being of Hispanic background (at the time tortillas did not come from a bag!) I love cooking international cuisine (I have over 50 cookbooks) and always bring home spices from whichever country I visit. Once I even brought home incredible 'saffron' from Dubai! I am on the Board of the Sedona Women (3rd year on board, 12-year member) and am the Community Service Projects Chairperson. I occasionally cook at the Old Town Mission in Cottonwood prepare the free lunch program (100 meals sometimes prepared by myself) and a few times a year for the St. Andrews Community Supper as the lead cook and organizer. I retired 14 years ago (from Qualcomm - a Construction Project Manager) and dedicate time to local volunteer work (including The Giving Angels, Yavapai Food Council, Sedona Food Bank, Old Town Mission, and other Non-profit organizations). Married (husband is a pilot), 2 children (Clarissa and Thomas) and grandmother to 3! Hobbies: Cooking of course!

Karl Samter |

My name is Karl Samter and I was born in San Diego California. I moved to Sedona Arizona about six years ago to pursue a career in Personal Training. Since then I have worked at Snap Fitness for almost six years now doing what I Love doing; changing people’s lives. When I was approached and asked if I would compete in the Canned Sedona cooking competition, I was extremely excited and honored. I have always loved cooking. When I was a young child, my Mother inspired me to start cooking and taught me the ropes of how to become a great chef. I have always enjoyed cooking for friends and family, and am thrilled to be in this event. I look forward to the competition and making my Mother proud!! See you all there!!!
